Territories Uncharted: searching for lost legends, Navajo slot canyons. Walking through these desert canyons as the wind and light dashed through the narrow sky slots, I was prompted by ancient echoes to watch closely. I began to see Native spirits appearing. Along the canyon walls, the shifting light revealed a warrior, and above them, a coyote and a tall, Native woman glowing with long hair flowing along these canyon walls. I felt that this was a sacred spot. As I watched and took several shots, a body shape emerged in the shifting illumination – I had captured a Native Ghost Chief, an ancient warrior wearing a feathered headdress that revealed his power..

Territories Uncharted: out searching for lost legends for months. After driving past Monument Valley, a breathtaking tribal park and one of the most photographed places on earth. I decided to head in and check out several Navajo vendors as I passed the West Mitten. Suddenly, the spirit prompted me to stop and look for smoke signals above the horizon. Instead, I saw a wild cowboy appear, crossing the desert. His hat seemed to touch the painted blue sky, his piercing eyes and rugged mustache stretching across the skyline as he overlooked this majestic Native territory. I managed to take several shots before the cowboy vanished like a smoke signal back into the native skies..

Territories Uncharted, a hidden location, searching for lost legends. After driving for days through deserts, finally being prompted, I started my hiking. There were no trails to follow, only promptings. I came across an ancient canyon with cliff dwellings, suddenly finding myself surrounded by natives along the rims of these canyons without any warning. They let me walk right into their territory without shooting any arrows toward me, remaining hidden until they revealed themselves. Like a heartbeat of thunder, the warriors appeared-weathered with battle scars and faded warpaint. They used their unique ability to blend into the elements, wrapping along the canyon cliffs while still standing guard over their sacred territory. I hung out with them for a while. They gave me the best place to stand to get all three of them together. Looking like thunder, they rewarded me with this unbelievably powerful photo..

Territories Uncharted: Hidden Locations. Searching for lost legends, I was prompted to search an area of the Rocky Mountains a range that I have visited several times throughout the years, though I had only ever found petroglyphs nearby. Although I spent most of the day hiking around this mountain and wanted to move on, the ancient spirits here told me differently. As evening approached, the spirit prompted me to cross over the valley and watch the mountain. As the sun was setting, hitting this mountain, waking it up, Its spirit hit me like lightning, transforming into a Native warrior revealing his war cry. As I saw his buckskin bone-armor breastplate, his weathered face, his head feather, and his eyes looking right at me. knew he would disappear in minutes without a trace, as if he had never been here in this sacred spot. This was one of the few shots I took before he disappeared into the sunset. Having been here several times in the past, I learned how skillful and powerful he is at hiding in the landscape…

Territories Uncharted hidden locations; out searching for lost legends, exploring and searching remote areas for days, keeping my eyes out for snakes and arrows with no trails to follow but small promptings, crossing several canyons and valleys. Then I saw this tall, narrow rock formation. I could hear its spirit echoing for me to take its picture, telling it, “You are too far away.” So I kept walking, using the sundial as I circled around this canyon. I headed down the valley, following the river, walking with the ancients. I could finally see the rock formation from a distance. As I hiked up around it, a powerful chief wearing a war bonnet appeared with faded tribal colors, facing west into the sun, with a painted blue sky revealing all his details and ancient stone monuments. I could feel his presence. I sat with him for a while, overlooking his territory as he pointed out others, showing he was not alone. As I studied the landscape to find the best shot to reveal this chief’s power in the landscape around him, I spent the day there visiting other ancient stone natives and their wildlife among the monuments..

I spent days walking through uncharted, beautiful deserts with striking canyon landscapes that touch the sky, trying to catch the mysteries of what hangs along the canyon’s walls-reflecting the spiritual stories of the ancient tribes that once walked here. After a few days, I heard ancient spiritual prompts I had been searching for. This native was a master of the art of camouflage, using his unique ability to hide in plain sight due to his adaptability, knowledge of the land, and keen ability to blend in and survive for so long. Out hiking along indigenous trails along the shorelines, the spirit prompted me to look up across the lake as most of the storm clouds passed. Seeing a beautiful cloudy blue skyline, hidden along this skyline was this amazing cloud-shaped woman who looked like the Queen of the Sky. Having my cell, I captured this, as she was floating by before these smoke signals disappeared in the sky.

Hiking along with tumbleweeds, crossing several canyons and riverbeds, and seeing broken arrowheads, I looked far off at a canyon, getting prompts to search in it a day’s hike away. When I finally arrived, I received several promptings that this place was being watched over by the ancient native guardians here as they were revealing sacred spots full of mysteries, so I took several pics. As I was walking, I felt a thundering echo. This ancient native chief appeared, as I felt his power rush through me while he was still standing tall and powerful. He was wearing a headdress with many ancient symbols and markings weathered away on and around him. I watched as the sun revealed reflective symbols, which then disappeared as the clouds moved by. Entering this Native territory, I started to receive echoes from a chief guiding me, even revealing himself from afar. I entered his territory with promptings like lightning and started to take photos of this ancient stone masterpiece. I saw he was as tall as the sky and covered with patches of red war paint that still exist, revealing his strength from past battles. The sun and timing were perfect, as if he had control of my lens and over the elements to capture how he wanted to be revealed-as a powerful picture as a chief. Hearing in the wind, “WE ARE STILL HERE,” echoing through these canyons, awakening his tribe, which has kept itself hidden in these territories..

I looked around this native shoreline seeing nothing, feeling that this native was a master of the art of camouflage. Searching the trees nearby, I saw him hidden in the shadows of the tree wearing a bird-like headdress, revealing himself as one of the warriors that once walked these trails. Territories Uncharted: A hidden location, searching for lost legends, exploring, and searching off the grid in remote areas for days with no trails to follow but small promptings. After hiking through several valleys, I ended up walking through a valley of rattlesnakes and will not be returning that way. As I was hiking across several plateaus, seeing obsidian chips and broken arrowheads, I came to the edge of a canyon. Looking around, I noticed something far off along the canyon ridge and felt prompted to head in that direction. I felt something like a warning, feeling as though I had to ask for permission to enter this territory. So I did. As I got closer, noticing a stone Native structure, I felt a powerful presence-something | can’t explain. This Native revealed himself as a Dog Soldier along with his tribal markings. I will keep this short, fearing his warnings. This Dog Soldier faces the sunset. His tribal markings on his side were once feared by others; knowing the markings of a Dog Soldier set him apart as a great warrior. His green tattoos or markings are kept up by the ancient spirits that overlook his sacred territory. Getting this Dog Soldier’s pic is like walking into wolf pack territory and coming out alive..

Territories Uncharted: hidden location, Searching for lost legends and exploring the Southwest, I spent days in these canyons chasing the uncharted. Finally, I came to a canyon’s edge. As I looked around, I noted the best viewpoint; I felt guided by a spiritual force. I started my hike, taking a day or so to get where I felt prompted to go. Walking along the rim of these canyons is incredible. I came across a wild cougar overlooking the canyon valley for its prey, an ancient weathered stone head marking the entry-knowing now I was in native territory. I took some photos and started my search. When I arrived, I saw several canyons from my vantage point. As I climbed out onto the top of a rock overlooking this ancient view, the promptings were telling me I was here While along the cliff edge looking and searching, I jumped off the backside. I looked back and felt a native warrior’s presence, revealing his power as he overlooked these canyons with an eagle-eye view of his territory, which stretched beyond sight. I could imagine him deciding whom he would allow to enter, signaling other scouts back in his day.. It was hard to see all of his features at first, so I spent the day with him overlooking his territory, waiting to see what mysteries he might share. I waited for the sun to fully reveal this warrior’s power and authority overlooking these sacred canyons.
